Crossways Estate
Project value: £1.2m
Our relationship with the principal contrator, Countryside Properties (In Partnership) plc, has blossomed over the years. We believe the success of this partnership is attibutable to our ability to adapt to the rapidly changing requirements of our clients.
As can be seen from some of the pictures shown here, the project required significant reduced level excavation and cut & fill operations to facilitate the construction of deep drainage incorporating storm water attenuation systems i.e. Hydrobrakes and landscaping which in itself presented additional challenges, most obviously the potential for confined space entry and permissions to connect into the mains UK drainage system.
As specialist contractor, we maintain a suitable number of trained, confined space entry operatives and have been registered as an Approved Contractor with Anglian Water since 2005. This allows us to construct and connect adoptable drainage without undue delay.
The soil reinforcement technique utilized on site was provided by Maccaferri Ltd, a specialist in this field commissioned by Kingsview Construction. They were instructed to provide suitable training for our foreman and operatives on site to ensure the safe, efficient installation of the Terramesh© System in accordance with their specification.
The presence of Japanese Knotweed on site became an extremely contentious issue as timescales for this project could not allow for long term treatment of this now prolific rhizome.
Kingsview Construction have extensive knowledge of this particular problem, so we were able to adapt their construction processes, digging practices and clearance protocols rapidly. Our solution proved the most attractive and cost effective option for the client. An area in excess of 60M² was cleared and disposed of in accordance with Environment Agency Code of Practice within 3 working days and without impact on adjacent works.
